How do I apply for housing at USI?
Apply for Housing
- Complete the on-campus housing application. A $50 non-refundable application is required.
- Sign your on-campus housing contract. A $200 prepayment is required.
- Select your room. An email will be sent to your MyUSI email address with further instructions.

Dorm rooms at colleges and universities average around 12 by 19 feet. This is approximately 228 square feet of actual living space. That’s about the size of a one-car garage.

Cancellation of meal plans must be handled in person at the Food Service office, 812-464-1859, located on the lower level of the University Center. With approval of your meal plan cancellation, munch money is refundable for the full unused amount.
How many students are allowed in a dorm room?
Most are designed to house 2, 4 or 6 people. In a suite for 2 people, there would be 2 separate rooms connected by a hallway. For a suite for 4 people, there would be 2 double rooms connected, and a suite for 6 people would have 3 double rooms. You’ll be sharing amenities with the others.
How do you make a dean’s list USI?
A student appears on the Dean’s List if they:
- earn no IN (Incomplete) or Z (missing) grades for the term, and.
- earn letter grades of computable point value (S/U, P/NP, and DP/DNP graded courses do not apply) in twelve or more semester hours, and.
- earn a semester grade point average between 3.50 and 4.00.
What is a passing grade at USI?
Students must have a cumulative grade-point average of 2.0 or above to exercise the pass/no pass option. Students whose cumulative grade-point average falls below 2.0 may not take a course pass/no pass. Students may take only one course a semester on the pass/no pass option.

All Students Campus apartmentsare available for all students with the exception of students with families and married students. Each apartment comes fully furnished and has a full-sized living room and kitchen. The campus apartments are located within walking distance of the academic buildings for an added degree of convenience.
